What We Offer

We offer sketching, art journaling, drawing or painting classes or workshops in a wide range of mediums, subject matter & techniques.


Adults over the age of 18 are welcome to enroll. Unfortunately, we do not offer any classes for youth or teens under the age of 18. Ages 16 to 18 are welcome to enroll, if they are accompanied by a guardian at all times in class.

Class Size?

The maximum class size is thirteen.

How Many Classes Do We Offer?

We do not have a set amount of classes that are offered. We schedule classes based on when instructors are available or when a specific location is available.

Classes on Demand?

Specialized classes are on demand, offered by a need or student's request. Some classes are offered in series, revolving around a specific topic or technique. Students may enter our carousel curriculum at any time based on their own comfort level or skill.

Classes for Beginners?

Drawing classes are offered annually for beginners, such as "Down to Earth Drawing Basics" or “Painless Perspective for Drawing & Painting.”

We believe that anyone can learn to sketch, art journal, draw, or paint with knowledge, practice and a supportive community! Whether you are an absolute beginner, novice or professional artist, you will find an experience with us that will take your skills to the next level.

Repeating Classes?

You are welcome to repeat classes as many times as you like based on your interests.

Subject Matter

We offer visual arts classes in the following subject matter, which includes animals or wildlife, portrait or figure, abstract, landscape and still life or floral.


We offer classes in the following mediums.


Over time, the practice of drawing will increase your ability to carefully observe, understand the observation in your mind, translate it and relay that translation to your hand and this will enhance your capacity to solve problems. We offer a wide range of drawing mediums including charcoal, graphite, pen & ink, pastel pencils or monotypes, including the following two dimensional mediums.


Painting is the practice of applying paint, pigment, color or other medium to a solid surface. The medium is commonly applied to the base with a brush, but other implements, such as knives, sponges, and airbrushes, can be used. We offer a wide range of painting mediums including watercolor or gouache (opaque watercolor), oil, encaustics, or pastel, including the following two dimensional mediums.

Mixed Media

May combine drawing or painting including two dimensional and three dimensional mediums which rise off of the surface creating physical texture or a refief. The mixed media is commonly applied using drawing tools, painting with a brush, monotypes using print rollers. Other implements can be layered over each other, such as collage, prints or anything else. We offer a wide range of painting mediums including the following.

Skill Levels

Each class or workshop enrollment form will list the desired skill level. See the following definitions to assess your skill level.

Absolute Beginner

Is unfamiliar with art supplies or has never taken an art class before. May not know what to buy in an art supply store or has never been in one before.


Has taken at least one art class or a drawing class but may not yet be confident in either drawing or painting (just starting to learn a skill).


In Drawing - Has a solid understanding of line, shape and value.
In Painting - Has a solid understanding of color mixing and brush types.


Has the confidence to either to try any new medium or switch from one medium to another.


Has both superb drawing and painting skills & has mastered multiple or any medium.


The academic calendar year is the same as the calendar year.

Academic Holidays?

We reserve the right to respect traditional Academic holidays, they are listed on our calendar.


Yes we are! The majority of our classes are held in the fall, winter or spring. The best times to find a class with us would be September to early December or January to May. We so occasionally offer one or two classes during the summer within a well air conditioned location.

Weekly Class Schedule?

Most of our classes are offered on the weekends or at night in the following time slots.

  • Mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Afternoons from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
  • Evenings from 6:000 PM to 9:00 PM

Length of Weekly Scheduled Classes?

Maybe offered in 2, 3, 4 or 6 week sessions.

Weekly Class Session Duration?

Weekly class sessions are 3 hours long, including a 15 minute break.

Workshop Session Duration?

Workshop sessions are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, including a 1 hour lunch break.

If you have questions regarding supplies or cannot afford certain supplies specified on the list, the instructor will provide you with materials on the first day and/or cover any details on where to purchase your own for the remainder of the class or workshop.

Materials Included?

If materials are not provided the instructor will email a materials list within the week before the class begins. Supplies are available for use if the class is located at the TPS Art Center.

What do I need to bring with me?

General supply lists are available on each class enrollment form, listed at the bottom of the page. Some instructors will email a more detailed supply list, prior to the start date of the class. This email routes to the email that you provided when you enrolled. Please check your spam folder.
