Following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Art Verve has decided to temporarily pause its class offerings to the public beginning March 22, 2020. Classes not scheduled in March will still move ahead as planned. However, we'll keep you posted if anything changes or is cancelled.

If you paid tuition, you will receive a full refund.

Printmaking, Mark Making & Rust Dyeing, Oh My!

Mono-types, Monoprints, Rust Dying & Mixed Media

If you love making art, learn through creative play. Practice new techniques, simply enjoy the creative process or the act of creating something. Learn several monotype and mark making techniques and make one of a kind prints. We will use a variety of tools and techniques and apply images and marks to several media, including various types of paper and textiles. This class will also cover rust dyeing on paper. Use your creations for collage elements, backgrounds for other art pieces, so save them just as they are! No experience necessary, just be open to trying new techniques and tools to create one of a kind prints!

Painting Landscapes
in the Studio

Studio practice, tools & techniques

Ideal for anyone painting, who would like to practice within a studio setting, learn from live demonstrations and receive individual guidance. Topics will include oil or acrylic painting from outdoor sketches, creating compositions and the pitfalls of reference photography. In class demonstrations will focus on how to use the building blocks of shapes, values, edges and color to improve your landscape paintings.

Drawing: A Visual Vocabulary

Studio practice, tools & techniques

Expand your visual vocabulary with a variety of drawing techniques that will improve how you communicate your message. Drawing includes the basic "vocabulary" of line, shape & value used to develop complex ideas into paintings, mixed media, sculpture or works of art.

In this class, you will explore a variety of drawing mediums, find out how to get the most out of your medium and experiment with each on a small scale. Practice drawing from life, using preliminary sketches to clarify your ideas and discover a wide variety of new techniques. Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate, this class will improve your skills, build your visual vocabulary and confidence!

Animal Portraits in Watercolor

Studio practice, tools & techniques

Express your love for animals. Honor your beloved pet, domestic or favorite wild animal with a portrait in watercolor! This fun and exciting class will cover all the steps from start to finish, including excellent guidance and demonstration.

Learn how to select the best materials and choose a great reference photograph to work from. Discover new color mixing techniques and find answers to the ever-present question of how to treat the background.

You will also learn how to create animal fur and texture. By the end of this class, you will be empowered to paint your favorite animals with confidence!
